再生能源×生質碳源　北美大型e-fuel案搶攻零碳替代燃料市場

專注於電合成燃料（e-fuel）項目的 StormFisher Hydrogen 近日宣布，將與德國能源設備技術商 MAN Energy Solutions 合作，在北美建置一座 200 兆瓦（MW）規模的 Power-to-X（電轉氣）大型生產設施，推動綠氫與電合成甲烷（e-methane）的大規模生產。

StormFisher Hydrogen, a company focused on e-fuel projects, recently announced a partnership with German energy equipment technology provider MAN Energy Solutions to develop a large-scale Power-to-X (P2X) production facility in North America, with a capacity of 200 MW. The facility will aim to drive the large-scale production of green hydrogen and e-methane (electro-synthesized methane).

該設施建成後，將利用太陽能與風能進行電解水製氫，再將綠氫與當地生質來源的二氧化碳（biogenic CO₂）於甲烷化反應器中合成電合成甲烷，預估年產量可達 5 萬公噸，能源含量與液化天然氣（LNG）相當。

Once completed, the facility will use solar and wind energy to electrolyze water to produce hydrogen, which will then be combined with biogenic CO₂ from local sources in a methanation reactor to synthesize e-methane. The expected annual production volume is projected to reach 50,000 metric tons, with an energy content equivalent to liquefied natural gas (LNG).

MAN Energy Solutions will conduct tests at its facilities in Germany to further improve the purity of e-methane, reducing impurities in the production process and ensuring the final product meets natural gas pipeline standards.

The e-methane produced by the facility will be directly compatible with existing natural gas infrastructure, requiring minimal retrofitting. This high level of compatibility and cost-effectiveness provides the energy sector with a low-carbon alternative.

Wagner Canelhas, Regional Sales Manager for MAN Energy Solutions in Houston, added:

"Through this partnership, we once again demonstrate MAN Energy Solutions' global leadership in methane technology for Power-to-X applications. Our technology will seamlessly integrate e-methane into existing pipeline networks, reducing costs and accelerating global deployment."

碳市場分析：創造碳價價值、助攻合規與自願市場

此次專案除了能源轉型意義，也為北美碳市場發展創造重要價值。電合成甲烷若以再生能源與生質二氧化碳為原料，整體碳足跡可達「接近零碳」甚至「碳中和」等級。根據國際碳市場規則，這類燃料可望取得碳減排認證，進而參與自願碳市場（VCM）交易，創造額外收益。

Carbon Market Analysis: Creating Carbon Pricing Value and Supporting Voluntary and Compliance Markets

This project not only holds significance for energy transition but also creates substantial value for the development of the North American carbon market. If e-methane is produced using renewable energy and biogenic CO₂ as feedstocks, the overall carbon footprint could approach near-zero emissions or even reach carbon-neutral levels. According to international carbon market regulations, such fuels are eligible for carbon reduction certification and could participate in voluntary carbon market (VCM) trading, generating additional revenue.

未來在美國如擴大聯邦或州級碳定價政策、或將清潔燃料納入「合規市場」體系（如 LCFS、45V 潔淨氫生產稅收抵免等），此類技術亦將具備符合條件的潛力，成為合規碳信用的供給來源。

Looking ahead, should federal or state-level carbon pricing policies expand in the U.S. or if clean fuels are incorporated into compliance market systems (such as Low Carbon Fuel Standards (LCFS) or 45V clean hydrogen production tax credits), these technologies will have the potential to supply eligible carbon credits for compliance markets.

此外，若北美未來針對天然氣供應商與工業用戶加強碳中和要求，e-methane 作為「drop-in」替代燃料，可協助下游企業降低範疇一（Scope 1）碳排，具備高度市場潛力。

Moreover, if stricter carbon-neutrality requirements are enforced on natural gas suppliers and industrial users in North America, e-methane, as a "drop-in" fuel, can assist downstream companies in reducing Scope 1 emissions, positioning it with high market potential.
