Mill Commercial 系統結合 AI 視覺辨識與軟體分析技術 ，可自動量測並分類水果與蔬菜廢料。

The Mill Commercial system integrates AI-powered computer vision and software analytics to automatically measure and characterize fruit and vegetable scraps. According to Mill co-founder and President Harry Tannenbaum, the system dehydrates food waste on site, reducing its volume by approximately 80% and producing a shelf-stable output material.

This approach simplifies in-store waste handling, lowers downstream transportation and processing costs, and enhances food safety standards. At the same time, the resulting material is returned to suppliers as feedstock, enabling a closed-loop, circular supply chain model.

此一設計大幅簡化零售端的廚餘處理流程，不僅降低後端運輸與處理成本，也同步提升食品安全標準。對供應鏈上游而言，這些處理後的副產品將作為飼料原料回流供應體系，形成實質的循環經濟模式。

Under the pilot program, Whole Foods plans to use the processed output as a nutrient-rich chicken feed ingredient for its private-label egg suppliers, effectively converting retail food waste directly into agricultural inputs.

根據規畫，Whole Foods 將把經 Mill 系統處理後的營養基質，用於自有品牌雞蛋供應商，作為富含營養的雞飼料成分，讓零售端的食物廢棄直接轉化為農業生產投入。

Amazon noted that the system is also expected to significantly reduce carbon emissions associated with food waste management - a critical issue for retailers facing growing scrutiny over Scope 3 emissions, where food waste represents a substantial and often under-addressed source of climate impact.

亞馬遜指出，該系統未來亦可顯著降低食物廢棄處理過程中的碳排放，對於零售業面對 範疇三（Scope 3）排放壓力 ，具有重要戰略意義。食物浪費長期被視為零售與餐飲業中最難解決、卻碳足跡極高的問題之一。
