這項計畫由沙國主權財富基金參與持股的能源公司ACWA Power主導，並與沙烏地阿美石油公司（Saudi Aramco）旗下的Aramco Power共同出資。雙方已與國營電力採購公司簽署電力購買協議，將把所產生的再生能源供應給全國電網。

目前沙國電力仍以石油與天然氣為主，2024年底太陽能裝置容量約為4.34 GW（百萬瓩）。然而根據規劃，沙國將在2030年前將太陽能與風能合計發電容量推升至130 GW，足以供應約1億3千萬戶家庭用電。

The initiative is led by ACWA Power, an energy company backed by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund (PIF), in partnership with Aramco Power, a subsidiary of Saudi Aramco. The two companies have signed power purchase agreements with the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) to supply the generated electricity to the national grid.

Currently, Saudi Arabia’s electricity production is dominated by oil and natural gas, with solar power capacity reaching approximately 4.34 GW by the end of 2024. Under the new plan, the combined capacity of solar and wind power is expected to soar to 130 GW by 2030 - enough to supply electricity to around 130 million households.
