Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), the international financial center of the UAE capital, is marking its 10th anniversary this year, having grown from a regional startup to one of the fastest-expanding financial hubs globally. Since its establishment in 2015, ADGM has attracted more than 300 financial institutions managing a combined USD 28.6 trillion in assets, according to the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) - a testament to its sustained momentum and investor confidence.

Between 2021 and mid-2025, the number of licensed financial entities at ADGM surged 135% - from 131 to 308 - enabling the center to meet its five-year Growth Strategy (2022–2027) targets in just three years. This accelerated growth reflects strong capital inflows, a solid regulatory foundation, and Abu Dhabi’s long-term economic vision.

From 2015 to 2024, ADGM’s assets under management (AUM) increased at an average annual rate of 123%. In 2025 alone, AUM grew another 42% year on year, with 154 fund managers overseeing 209 funds as of Q2.

Chairman Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi credits the progress to national leadership and policy clarity. With nearly 11,000 active licenses and close to 3,000 registered entities, ADGM now represents the largest regulated financial ecosystem across the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA).

ADGM’s regulatory edge stems from being the only jurisdiction in the region to apply English common law directly, enhancing investor trust and legal certainty. It has introduced forward-looking frameworks across capital markets, digital assets, sustainable finance, and private credit, with ESG and fintech sandboxes - like RegLab and the Digital Sandbox - supporting innovation under real-market conditions.

Backed by Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth funds, which together manage more than USD 1.8 trillion, ADGM continued to attract top-tier institutions in 2025, including UBS, HarbourVest, and Partners Capital. Many global players are now leveraging the emirate’s political stability, energy transition strategy, and robust governance as core regional market gateways.
